We are making our way through the last few weeks of winter but we still need our furnaces, especially during frigid nights. Not much is worse than turning in at night just to realize your furnace won’t start up. If you find yourself in this situation, here are a few things you can check yourself prior to calling McElroy Service Experts.
Check Air Filters
You should change standard air filters each month. If you don’t, they can end up clogged, blocking air flow and resulting in a furnace malfunction.
Check Your Thermostat
Try turning the temperature up a few degrees to get the furnace to kick on. If the true room temperature is higher than the thermostat, the furnace won’t kick on. Also, make sure the system switch is on “heat” or “auto.”
Check the Power
It may seem obvious, but make sure the power switch next to the heating equipment is “On.” Even gas heating equipment uses electricity so confirm the breaker has not tripped and that the power switch was not accidently moved to the “Off” position.
If you inspect all these things and your furnace will still not turn on, give McElroy Service Experts a call at 308-210-4398 and we’ll come out and get you taken care of as soon as possible.
