The Service Experts Heating and Air Conditioning Field Support Office in Plano, TX was thrilled to give 324 pounds of food to Minnie’s Food Pantry, also located in Plano.
“Last year, I had the opportunity to get a group of colleagues to volunteer at Minnie’s and it was an incredible experience,” said Amanda Wilson, Operations Specialist for Service Experts. “They do so much more than just collect food – they are a critical part of this community.”
Minnie’s Food Pantry was started by Cheryl Jackson as a way to recognize her mother, Minnie Hawthorne-Ewing D.D., who spent many of her childhood years wondering if and where she would receive her next meal. In addition to providing meals to families in need, Minnie’s also holds classes to teach families how to utilize the food they receive to cook nourishing, long-lasting meals. They also offer resume aid along with budgeting and job classes to help members of the community get back on their feet.
Since the families receive approximately 50 pounds of food to get them through the month, Service Experts was able to feed six families for the month.
“Everyone was so excited that we had this food drive for the organization, and they even took time to show us their awesome facility,” Wilson said.
